Frequently Asked Questions

First time printing? Questions about the process? Feel free to call or email us to further answer your questions! Below are some answers to frequently asked questions for your convenience.

WHAT'S THE TURNAROUND FOR MY ORDER?
Our normal turnaround is within 3-5 business days for non-quantity and non-specialty orders.  Sometimes we can get your work done sooner and feel free to ask us when we can have your order completed.

DO YOU CHARGE FOR RUSH ORDERS?
Our turnaround is so quick, that it's very rare that we will have to charge for a rush order.  In the rare case that we do need to charge for a rush order, it's $40 or 40% additional to your total (whichever is greater) for under a 48-96 hour rush and  $100+ or 100%+ (whichever is greater) for 24 hour or less rush.  Rush for quantity orders depend on specs and are subject to change.  We only accept rush orders if our schedule can handle it.  All rush orders must pay in full up front.

DO YOU MAKE ANY EXCEPTIONS ON RUSH ORDERS?
Here at Art Printer, we understand that sometimes you don't want to leave your art for multiple days somewhere, or you need to rent a truck for transporting a large piece, or you're coming from a long distance.  If you contact us and schedule a specialty appointment approved by management at least a few days in advance, we can get a raw scan done for you same day.  That is the only exception we make.

DO YOU PRINT BUSINESS CARDS?
We do not specialize in business cards.  Technically, we can print anything you want on fine art paper, but it's going to cost you a lot more than a normal business card printer.

CAN YOU PRINT DOUBLE SIDED?
Sorry, but we don't.  Most fine art printing is not double sided.  Feel free to call and we can refer you to another printer!

DO I NEED TO GET TEST PRINTS?
It's up to you.  If you are very particular about color, we highly recommend doing tests before printing.  Every monitor and printer is different; the only way to know if you're getting exactly what you want is if you get a test done.  We would say that half of our customers do tests and the other half just go for it.

DO I NEED COLOR MATCHING FOR MY SCANS?
If you want to print it with us, and you want the colors to be accurate, absolutely.  If they're going to another printer, make sure to get a test to confirm colors with their printers.  No color correction is normally a courtesy for clients who can edit their own files to get it the way they want or for clients who don't care for 100% accuracy.  It's really whatever you're comfortable with.

WHY ARE THERE MULTIPLE OPTIONS FOR COLOR MATCHING?
Some images are easier to color correct than others, and that's just a fact.  We charge by how much time and how many test prints it takes to get the colors as close to the original as possible.  Instead of charging one large cost, we have a tier system in place so you only get charged what you need.  This is to minimize costs for our artists because we know how tight and artist's budget can be.

WHAT IS THE MOST COMMON COLOR MATCHING SERVICE?
90% of the time we are able to make clients happy with the Quick Tweak.  If your image has a variety of similar tonalities, metallics, or other colors that can be out of gamut, it may be harder to isolate and reproduce those colors.  We'll always start off with the Quick Tweak, have you check a test to see if you're satisfied, and if you're not we will move you up to Gallery Tweak or more.

DOES IT MATTER IF MY PAINTING IS STILL WET?
We do not accept any paintings that are wet.  Why would you want us to have your wet painting?  Don't take the chance of your work getting damaged! Our turnaround time is really quick, so please just let it dry first.

DO YOU INSURE THE ORIGINAL ARTWORK THAT COMES THROUGH FOR SCANNING?
We do not, but the client is encouraged to have their own insurance.  We've handled thousands of original artwork and each employee is trained to take the greatest care possible.  We will make accommodations if need be for particular sensitive material.  Let us know what works best for you and we'll make sure you're comfortable!

DO YOU PRINT ON SHEETS OF PAPER OR ON ROLLS?
We print on rolls of media so our clients aren't constrained to standard sizing.  Do keep in mind the paper tends to be a bit curved off the roll, but they can be flattened easily.

HOW SMALL/BIG DO YOU PRINT?
The biggest we can print depends on the manufacturer of the media and it varies. See our Print Media page for those details.  On all media we can print as little as 1"x1", but we do charge a minimum of $5 per print no matter the size.

DO YOU OFFER DISCOUNTS?
Absolutely!  If you have a quantity order and give us ample time to complete it, we can offer a discount.  We also have discounts on our social media platforms from time to time.  Feel free to call or email for more details.

HOW ARE MY PRINTS PACKAGED WHEN I PICK THEM UP?
To keep costs down, we roll up large prints in tissue paper with a wrap to keep them compact and protected.  Smaller prints we wrap in tissue but leave flat.  If you want large pieces left flat, please do let us know and bring some type of portfolio box, sleeve, or folder upon pickup. We also offer cardboard tubes, cardboard flatpack (40”x48” max), acid free paper, and tissue paper for an addition fee.  We do have brown craft paper available upon request.  Stretched canvas pieces are wrapped with plastic.

DO YOU FRAME OR MOUNT?
Sorry, but we don't.  Framing is a whole other world that we have not yet conquered.  Luckily, we can recommend great frame shops in your area!

DO YOU SHIP?
We can ship tubes or small flat packages domestically at your request but not stretched canvas.  We ship via USPS, and we can either use your account number (cheaper for you), or we can use our account and charge you.  We can also ship via FedEx if you have an account number.  We won't know how much the shipping will cost until we have your print finished and packaged, but we will inform you as soon as we know.  We do not ship abroad, sorry!

WHY DO YOU HAVE A STORAGE FEE?
We are a small studio so we do not have a lot of space to store artwork.  The storage fee averages around $20/wk.  Feel free to send a Lyft, friend, or delivery service to pick up to avoid extra fees.
